Rez-Mesh for Remote Hiking and Expeditions
Remote terrain makes the limitation obvious: a phone may still be useful even when the nearest tower is not. Rez-Mesh starts from the devices that the group already carries.
Beyond ordinary coverage
A hiking group can move into terrain where cellular coverage is absent or unreliable. Local communication therefore cannot assume that every message first reaches a carrier network.
A group can become a local path
Participating devices can discover nearby members and establish local communication relationships. When geometry permits, intermediate members can become part of a multi-device path.
Movement changes the topology
Hikers spread out, regroup and move around terrain. A route that was available a few minutes ago may change, making adaptation more important than a fixed connection model.
Battery matters in the field
Long trips make energy preservation part of communication planning. Rez-Mesh power states are designed to trade radio activity against longer device survival when appropriate.
